Overview
Myfolio is a personal asset tracking app provided by Shadow Tech. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, where it is stored, when network requests are made, and how you can export or delete your data.
Myfolio is designed as a local-first personal ledger. You can use the app without creating an account.
Information You Provide
You may enter information into the app, including:
- asset names, categories, currencies, and current values;
- asset history records and value updates;
- optional notes attached to assets or records;
- preferences such as base currency, theme, hidden amount display, and onboarding state;
- app lock settings, including whether biometric unlock is enabled.
How Your Data Is Stored
Asset records, values, notes, currencies, and exchange-rate data are stored locally on your device using the app's private local database. App preferences are stored locally on your device. App lock PIN protection data is stored using the device secure storage system.
Myfolio does not operate a user account system and does not upload your asset names, notes, values, or history records to Shadow Tech servers.
Exchange Rates and Network Requests
Myfolio may request available currencies and exchange rates from the Frankfurter API at api.frankfurter.dev. These requests may include your selected base currency and the currency codes used by your assets, such as USD, EUR, or GBP. These requests do not include your asset names, notes, or asset values.
Third-party services may process technical information associated with network requests, such as your IP address, device/browser request metadata, and request time, according to their own practices.
Data Export and Sharing
Myfolio includes an export feature that lets you create a portable JSON file containing your preferences, assets, records, and exchange-rate information. Export is started by you. After you choose to share or save the file, the destination app or service you choose may receive and process that exported data.
Treat exported files as sensitive personal financial information. Only share them with apps, services, or people you trust.
App Lock and Biometrics
Myfolio offers an optional app lock feature. The app stores PIN protection data using device secure storage. If you enable biometric unlock, authentication is handled by your device operating system. Myfolio does not receive your fingerprint, face data, or other biometric templates.
How We Use Information
Information handled by Myfolio is used to:
- show and manage your asset ledger inside the app;
- calculate totals and currency conversions;
- remember your preferences;
- provide optional app lock protection;
- support user-initiated data export.
Data Sharing
Myfolio does not sell your data. Myfolio does not share your asset names, notes, values, or history records with Shadow Tech servers. Data may be shared only in these situations:
- when you use the export/share feature and choose a destination app or service;
- when currency and exchange-rate features send currency codes to a third-party exchange-rate provider;
- when required to comply with applicable law or valid legal process.
Data Retention and Deletion
Your local app data remains on your device until you delete it, delete individual records inside the app, uninstall the app, clear the app's storage, or reset your device according to your operating system settings.
Because Myfolio does not use an account system or cloud sync operated by Shadow Tech, we generally do not have a server-side copy of your asset ledger to delete. To remove data from a third-party destination where you exported or shared a file, contact that destination service.
Children's Privacy
Myfolio is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security
We use reasonable technical choices intended to protect local app data, such as private app storage and device secure storage for app lock data. No method of electronic storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date above. Material changes may also be communicated through the app or the website.
